Hey
I currently have a 450 watt power supply and my video card alone requires 400. Is it safe to leave only 50 watt for the rest of my computer? My desktop is a “HP Pavilion Media Center m8300f Desktop PC series”

My spec:
Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Media Center (32-bit)
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (2 CPUs), ~3.0GH
Memory: 2942MB RAM
Hard drive 640 GB (2 x 320) SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec) 7200 rpm
16X DVD(+/-)R/RW 12X RAM (+/-)R DL LightScribe SATA drive
56K bps data/fax modem
TV tuner card with FM tuner
My video card: e-GeForce 8600 GTS 512 mb DDR3 PCI-E

Your video card requires 400 all by itself? That’s some beefy card! Are you sure the manufacturer doesn’t mean 400 for the whole system?

There are a couple of online calculators that will give you a pretty good estimate of how much power you need for your system. Google “computer power supply estimator”.
